Frequently asked
Is my data private?
Yes. Scanning, cropping, and storage all happen on your iPhone. There is no account and no cloud upload to us. Photos access is add-only - the app cannot see, open, or delete anything already in your library.
Do I need an account?
No. Open the app and start scanning.
What is free and what costs money?
Scanning and reviewing are always free. Free users can successfully import 20 photos into Photos per local calendar day. A one-time lifetime unlock removes that daily import limit.
What devices are supported?
iPhone running iOS 17 or later. Portrait orientation only in the current version.
Where do scans go?
They stay in the app session until you import. Import adds them to a Photo Scans album in Apple Photos (or your library if album creation is unavailable).
How do I restore a purchase?
Open Options in the app and tap Restore purchases. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID via StoreKit.
Troubleshooting
- Camera will not open. Grant camera access in Settings → Old Photo Scanner (or Scanner Dev for the debug build).
- It will not lock onto the print. Fill more of the frame, use even lighting, and avoid heavy glare. A flat surface helps.
- Import is blocked. Free daily imports may be used up, or Photos add permission may be off. Check Options for remaining imports, and Settings for Photos access.
- Still stuck? Email support@oldphotoscanner.app with your device model and iOS version.
